![]() ![]() ![]() If debt is today associated with “an abiding sense of guilt, and guilt to self-loathing, and self-loathing to torture,” Graeber argued, that’s only because the world’s great religions derived their moral and spiritual teachings, at least in part, from preexisting financial practices. Graeber thought moral reasoning had no place in discussions about extending credit. In fact, Graeber noted, anthropologists had established long ago that money evolved instead from calculations of indebtedness that resembled today’s “virtual money.” Predating coins wrought from precious metal, these accounting schemes varied from Mesopotamian scratchings on clay tablets to knotted strings in ancient China.Įconomists call the risk that debts won’t be taken seriously “moral hazard,” a phrase that, tellingly, appears in Debt only once, dismissively. They all posited, for instance, that money evolved from barter, because that accommodated Adam Smith’s concept of an invisible hand. Graeber thought economists couldn’t grasp this because they couldn’t lift themselves out of the water long enough to take in the big picture. It was not, Graeber argued, the product of some mystical force field, independent from government, that economists called “the market.” If conservative market fundamentalists, following British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, argued there was “ no such thing as society,” Graeber, a leftist who described himself as an anarchist from the age of 16, answered that there was no such thing as the market. Money, Graeber explained in his 2011 opus Debt: The First 5000 Years, was an informal method that small communities once used to keep track of material obligations, before the state co-opted that system to bankroll conquest.

![]() Very doable for 9mm of taper and we had fun taking the Lib Tech Lost Quiver Killer switch. Combine that with the with the taper in the tail, a little early rise in the nose and the decent set back on board it is a very competent floater. When set all the way back you can get a setback from center of board of 3.625″ with a 22.75″ stance width. It’s better than most all mountain boards. ![]() It’s far from all time but very good for a one board quiver. So I actually bought this board and got it in some good pow. You need a little bit more weight on the back foot to keep it from washing but not as much as some boards with this much taper. I would love to make some good turns in all conditions. There is really good spring out of the turn when you get that edge engaged into a turn and the Lib Tech Lost Quiver Killer is a friend to most radius turns we like to make. I could easily turn through bumps if I needed to. Medium to medium fast turn initiation with the Lib Tech Lost Quiver Killer. The edge hold is less than most people would expect from Mervin and there is almost no disruption. The board is not super damp but can ride all day without falling apart in messy snow. The base has medium glide and the Lib Tech Lost Quiver Killer can do all right on a straight line for its size and flex. It just felt poppy without being light and chattery. We could all butter with a good bit of effort and could easily access its Ollie power too. Mervin does cool things with the boards flex personality and the Lib Tech Lost Quiver Killer is no exception. ![]() Quiver Killer with some early rise in the nose and a touch in the tail. For most riders it will be on the stable/less catchy side of semi-locked in. So what does that mean? Well, it means it is pretty locked in but not like old camber rides. The Lib Tech Lost Quiver Killer still has a lot of camber but has more of a modern take on it. It isn’t like the Lib Tech Lost Rocket or Lib Tech BRD but there is a little tweak up before the nose begins. Lib says full camber but there is definitely a touch of early rise in the nose and a little in the tail. We do make money from the “Where To Buy” links, but this is our best attempt at an honest and objective review from an average riders’ perspective. It is hard to define as it has an all mountain feel but with a tapered directional freeride shape all set in a shorter/somewhat wider package.Įthics Statement: We don’t get paid by the manufacturer to write these reviews. We just wish there were more sizing options. It can be a lot of different things to a wide variety of riders and we want to own one. It also looks like you can set it back in powder and get some pretty respectable directional float. You could butter around, ride switch well for how tapered it is, ollie off things around the mountain and even make some good carves without it feeling too washy in the tail. It could adapt to a lot of different riding styles and conditions. The Lib Tech Quiver Killer did live up to its name…well in the sense it could be a good one board solution. People who want Lib Tech style Magnetraction won’t like the grip. Swipe Right: Slightly shorter, slightly wider, tapered directional, poppy, playful, floaty, one board quiver. Notice how I haven’t mentioned psychic magic once? There’s a reason for that – the book does not support the concepts from Occult Adventures (or Pathfinder Unchained), which is a pretty huge flaw as far as I’m concerned and something I wanted to see updated. Okay, here, I must address a massive elephant in the room. The archetype chapter also includes some options for other classes: The Black Hat gunslinger, who gets jinxes, the black powder reaver barbarian, the gunfighter, the noble shootist gunslinger, beast-soul, iron staff and clockwork monks as well as paper drake monks, elemental ninjas and the futurist witch.
